Girl Scout Whistles

Some really old Girl Scout belts still have the hook on them for the Girl Scout whistle!

For reason unknown, some Girl Scout whistles had the trefoil engraved upside-down.

B & R was not the manufacturer of the whistles, but the distributor, according to online sources.

  • Amazingly this designed remained unchanged for 26 years!

  • By 1968 - it's last year, the price had only gone up to 25 cents.

1969

  • Unfortunately quality control was poor with these whistles. The plastic trefoil insert was glued without care, leaving the trefoil at any angle.

  • The whistle disappeared from the GS catalogs after 1977, but probably was still available until the new whistle debut in 1982,
