Read the fine print! These stamp collecting kits offered in the GS catalogs DIDN'T send you any Girl Scout or Girl Guide stamps - they sent you a "insert" about stamps and pins of Girl Scout and Girl Guide Countries.
The Juliette Gordon Low 3 cent stamp was issued by the USPS in 1948. The decorative pins came much, much later.

What I wonder is who had to tell Senior Girl Scout Rebecca Gainey of North Carolina, that she was dumped as the model for the 1962 Girl Scout stamp in favor of a younger face?

The appearance of decorative pins and the cross-stitch pattern book baring the image of the 4 cent stamp came later.
The mostly forgotten Girl Scout Canal Zone 4 cent stamps.
The 1962 Canal Zone Postage Stamp used Camp Chagres as an inspiration for the background design.
GSUSA shared Camp Chagres with the BSA, who developed more patches for the camp than GSUSA.
The campsite was located in the Chagres National Park.

No one ever developed a pin, or cross-stitch booklet, or postcards, note cards and such for this stamp.

The 1987 Girl Scout Commemorative 22 cent stamp was not without controversy. When still in the designing phase someone objected to the My World in My Community badge (9-749) being used because it was the ying/yang symbol. Apparently they won, as the badge is not on the stamp.
Many items were issued by USPS and GSUSA that used the stamp's image; coffee mugs, t-shirts, postcards, puzzles, patches, earrings, pins, pendants, and such. The quality of the pins varied greatly - many lacked detail and proper paint/enamel coloring.
