Riverdale Drapery Fabric Company - 1961

Heavy-duty 100% cotton
"... printed in nine glowing colors on a sand colored ground, and includes many symbols of Girl Scouting."
The fabric was sold:
- on the bolt by the yard ($2.00 a yard)
- draperies (45', 54", 63", 84" and 90")
- cafe curtains, (36")
- bedspreads (single and full size).
Girl Scouts were encouraged to use the fabric to dress up meeting places, cabins, etc.

In 1995 new leggings were offered for Brownies and Juniors. These fabrics were also available by the yard, along with uniform fabrics at retail fabric stores.

Some prints came in cotton and cotton flannel
Some prints in the "Girl Scout" line didn't have any identifying GS marks

The two fabric swatches shown above (center & right) are modern reinterpretation of the Riverdale Drapery Fabric Company's 1961 fabric - the design is has been updated with different skin tones on the Girl Scouts. The fabric is a cotton blend instead of the heavy 1961 fabric. The background of the swatch on the right is more beige.
